Meeting Jesus At The Table: A Lenten Study for All Pilgrims

Our Sunday worship during lent will explore the stories of Jesus sharing meals with people, using this fabulous new study guide "Meeting Jesus at the Table." This short book includes reflections, questions, and illustrations that we'll discuss in bible study and in worship.

If you'd like a copy of the book, so you can read the chapter before worship, we'd love to order one for you. They're $12 each, but if money is a concern please don't let that stop you. If you'd like to reserve your copy, please email Jess and let her know. If you'd like to pay for one (or to pay for an extra for someone else) you can do so on our website. You can pick up you copy after worship on Sundays.

We're looking forward to exploring with you!

The Session of Church of the Pilgrims has called a Congregational Meeting for Sunday, January 29th for the purposes of receiving the budget and annual report, electing the 2023 nominating committee, voting on changes to the bylaws, and voting on the pastor's terms of call. We will hold the meeting during worship, which will be a special service INCLUDING BRUNCH! Join us in person or online at 11am for worship, brunch, and the meeting.

Here are the materials for the Annual Meeting:

Issues Among Us- January 21st

Join us on Saturday January 21st at 11am at the Smithsonian's Museum of African American History and Culture as we will visit their new exhibition, Spirit in the Dark: Religion in Black Music, Activism and Popular Culture. After we view the exhibit, we'll gather either outside (weather permitting) or in the cafeteria for discussion. We have already secured tickets for 25 people to come and join us at the museum, so please RSVP to Pastor Erin and let her know if you plan to come.

This is part of our Issues Among Us Series where we go out into the community to learn from experts about the issues among us, then gather to discuss and pray over what we learned. We aim to put our faith in conversation with the problems in our community, and pray together to discern how we are called to respond. Each month we'll learn about, pray through, and act on a different issue. Click here to learn more about this series and to check out where we’ve been learning this fall.

New Year's Day Hike

Join us for Worship outside on New Year’s Day.

Instead of meeting in the sanctuary, we’ll gather at Teddy Roosevelt Island on Sunday, January 1st at 11am. We’ll share some prayers together, then head out on a walk, spending our time worshiping God in nature. Come and kick the year off with us on a little stroll…

*Teddy Roosevelt Island is Metro accessible from the Roslyn station, with a little walking from there. Or, of you need a ride or would like to carpool, please email Pastor Erin.

**In the event of very terrible weather, we’ll do Zoom worship instead. Watch here for details.

Community Christmas Carol Sing - Dec. 15th at 6:30pm

Throw on a cozy holiday sweater, grab a neighbor, and come join us for a bit of Community Christmas Carol Singing! On Thursday, December 15th at 6:30 pm, shake off the work day, sip some hot cocoa, and join us in singing all your favorite Christmas Carols. We’ve got some special friends coming to play the music and lead us in singing together. And there might even be time for requests! We’ll have some cookies and snacks in the back, you can decorate or just eat and enjoy. Come and sing and have so much fun getting your holiday cheer going.

Advent and Christmas at Pilgrims

Join us for worship during this Advent and Christmas Season.

On Sundays through Advent, we’ll share stories as we watch and wait for Christmas.

Then on Christmas Eve we’ll gather at 7pm at Pilgrims and online for a service of candlelight, story, and special music.

Christmas Day will be a pre-recorded virtual service that you can watch at home any time. **We will not have in-person worship at Pilgrims on Christmas Day.**

On Sunday, Jan 1st, instead of meeting in the sanctuary, we’ll head out to Teddy Roosevelt Island for a special New Year’s Day hike together. We will pray and worship God out in nature. **We will not have in-person worship at Pilgrims on New Year’s Day.**

Finally, we’ll gather back in the sanctuary (in-person and online) on Jan. 8th in celebration of Epiphany. We can’t wait to see you there!
