Formation

Pilgrims uses an integrated approach for the spiritual formation pf our congregation. Our tradition, liturgy, ritual, human experience, outreach, and scripture are all used for children to older adults to experience God and the stories of God and creation. We believe and trust that through this integrated approach we can, as an intergenerational community,  connect with the symbols and language of our faith, create a Christian identity, and connect with God's creation.

Rather than a typical Sunday school program, our children and youth are part of worship, outreach, and congregational life.

Pilgrim adults gather on Sunday mornings and, at times, during the week for Bible study and reflection.

Issues Among Us

In the Fall of 2022, we started a new effort of learning, discussing, and taking action on the Issues Among Us. Each month, we seek out opportunities to learn together- an exhibit, a lecture, a public action, an experience- and then we discuss those learnings and put them in conversation with our faith. Click here to see some of our recent Issues Among Us outings and to get the info you need to join us for the next experience.

Small Groups

Small groups were created at Pilgrims to help friends and members gather for support, study, prayer and fellowship. There is no formal process to starting a small group at Pilgrims. All you need is an idea or a passion and you can have a small group! If you are interested in participating in one of these groups or in starting your own, please click here to contact Pastor Erin, and she’ll get you connected to the right place.

Currently, some of our groups are meeting online only and some are starting to meet in person again, too:

  • Bible Study on the Fly - Sundays at 10 a.m. Join us in person in the Bird Room or online via Zoom. We’re studying the lectionary texts.

  • Free Minds- Every other Tuesday, a small group meets on Zoom to discuss the poetry written by our incarcerated neighbors through a program called Free Minds Book Club and Writing Workshop. We spend an hour reading their work and providing responses to the artists, and we get to know one another a little better, too.

Before the pandemic, these groups also met regularly:

  • Circle 4, a group of women, meets occasionally for fellowship and fun.

  • Friday Club for senior members and friends of the congregation meets throughout the year for a meal and program.

  • LGBTQ Fellowship meets for fellowship and support.
