Come read and discuss with us this summer! We'll meet on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm at church. There will be snacks.
Tuesday, June 13: In the Shelter by Pádraig Ó Tuama
Tuesday, July 11: This Here Flesh by Cole Arthur Riley
Tuesday, August 8: A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers
So much has changed over the past few years- in our congregation and in our neighborhood. Let’s talk about it! Let’s walk around and notice it!
We’d love for you to click here and sign up to share a walking visit in our community with Pastor Erin. We can take a stroll around the neighborhood, and you can share your stories of past adventures or we can notice all the new places together. Or if walking isn't for you, we can have a porch visit on the front steps of the church and chat right there.
The weather is nice and the sunlight is long again - it’s a great time for all of us to get to know the neighborhood together again!
We'll gather in the Bird Room at church next week on Tuesday 4/25 at 5:00pm (or whenever you can get here) to make a bunch of tasty soups to share with our hungry neighbors. No need to RSVP. We'll provide all the ingredients and tools. Just show up and jump in!
Hope to see you there!
Friendship Place’s Walk to End Homelessness
As many of you know, Church of the Pilgrims has been supporting Friendship Place and its mission to end homelessness in the DC metro area for over 30 years. I have been Pilgrims’ representative to the Congregations Committee at FP as well as an active Board member for the past 8 years. I’m truly passionate about the amazing work they do and the progress they are making.
For that reason, I’m sponsoring a “Church of the Pilgrims” team for the annual Friendship Place Walk on Saturday, April 29. The walk kicks off at 11:00 AM with registration opening at 9:30 AM. I’m looking for walkers and/or donations. It’s a fun morning out at the reflecting pool and Lincoln Memorial. There are T-shirts, snacks, entertainment, dogs and kids and it’s not a very long walk! The link to sign up to donate or join the pilgrims’ team is below. If you’d like more information please contact me: Mitch Fulton at home.onthehill@verizon.net Thanks!

Join us for special services in April!
As we continue through our Lenten series “Meeting At the Table” we’ll gather around tables for worship, snack, and discussion during Holy Week.
On Palm Sunday (4/2) at 11am we’ll share the story of the meal at Martha, Mary, and Lazarus’ home.
On Maundy Thursday (4/6) at 6:30pm we’ll tell the story of the Last Supper, but we' won’t stop there. With an evening full of storytelling, we’ll journey with Jesus all the way through Holy Week. All are invited to bring some food to share as we do hope this evening will be a feast!
On Good Friday (4/7) we’ll have the sanctuary open with prayer stations from 11am-2pm. Come and walk the labyrinth, read the story, and pray a little.
And then on Easter Sunday at 11am, we’ll be back at tables together for one last meal together. There will be so much special music, and really great Easter breakfast, and maybe even some hidden eggs, too!
Come and journey with us through Holy Week!
On Tuesday, Feb. 28 we will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby at the MLK Branch of the DC Public Library to visit their special exhibit, "Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley: Let the World See." This nationally touring exhibit shares the story of Emmett Till's life, shares about his mother's fight for justice, and encourages visitors to consider steps in their own work for racial and social justice in their communities.
This exhibit is recommended for ages 10 and older.
After we visit the exhibit, we'll find a space at the library to gather and discuss as a group.

This is part of our Issues Among Us Series where we go out into the community to learn from experts about the issues among us, then gather to discuss and pray over what we learned. We aim to put our faith in conversation with the problems in our community, and pray together to discern how we are called to respond. Each month we'll learn about, pray through, and act on a different issue. Click here to learn more about our Issues Among Us series.
